The Counterweight is an OEM part for Frigidairewashing machines. It is locate at the front of the tub, helping to offset the weight of heavily loaded clothes and maintaining the best drum balance during centrifugal spin cycles. The counterweight is cast and matched to each washer model to distribute weight as efficiently as possible. Causes of a bad counterweight can include cracks or fractures from extensive machine vibrations over time, or damage incurred during removal/installation.
