The Goodman / Amana Replacement Run Oval Capacitors are like short-term batteries. They send an electrical "jolt" to start up a motor or a regular series of "jolts" to keep the motor working. In HVAC, capacitors work with the compressor motor, the blower motor and the outdoor fan. A run capacitor is used only to keep the motor running.
