The Inlet Sump is an OEM replacement part for GE dishwashers. Located at the bottom of the dishwasher tub, the carefully contoured inlet sump collects and transports dirty wash water containing food debris to the filtration system. Its inlet ports and drainage routes optimize flow for thorough cleaning cycles.  Symptoms of a problem with the inlet sump include: Poor drainage or water not properly collecting at the bottom of the tub Clogged or leaking drainage valves that impact water circulation   Buildup of food or grime that blocks water movement   Causes can be normal wear and accumulation of debris over time.
